This nature house is located about four kilometers from the old city walls of Évora on the quiet north side of the city. The cottage is next to an old nunnery. The surroundings are rural and quiet and it is a protected area in terms of industry and housing. The land includes 2.5 acres, two pastures and a 0.5 acre garden with many fruit trees: orange, peach, plum, pear, et cetera. There are also very old olive trees on the land, some say more than 1000 years old. In the area you can walk and bike, a short distance away is the ecopiste (walking/cycling route), built over the former train tracks that went from Évora to Arraiolos, about 40 kilometers. There is also a beautiful walking/cycling route along the old aqueduct to Évora. A number of bicycles are available to the tenants. The pool is visited by us and our guests. Guests: 9.30-12.30 and 14.30-19.00.
Nature and surroundings
The nature around the nature house is rural and changes throughout the year. Autumn with the first rains after dry summer months start with lots of greenery and the first flowers. These can last until January, the coldest month, when it is very cold, up to -5 in January, at night everything stops growing. With the first rains and mild temperatures, February/March, many flowers come very soon. The peak is April into May, the colors of the fields around go from white to yellow to blue. The amount of wildflowers you see here were once there in Holland, but that was a very long time ago.
