As mentioned earlier, this nature house is located on Lake Vravatn, with a length of about 30 kilometers. This lake is connected with a lock to Lake Nisser, about 40 kilometers long. Water enough you might say. The landscape is mountainous, with peaks up to around 1300 meters. There are a large number of marked hiking trails in this area with varying degrees of difficulty. It is a characteristic landscape, with dense coniferous forests and higher up bare rock, fast flowing water and small mountain lakes. Moose and other wildlife have been seen as they pass by! In winter, the landscape is completely different. The lakes become frozen snowfields, everything is white, and it can be quite freezing. But it is pleasant, dry cold, not humid. During the ski season you can step directly onto the cross-country trail from the house, the ski area is five minutes by car. By the way, it is a real family ski area, clear, but with all modern facilities and very important, no waiting times. Vradal is also a good base for day trips. Dalen is definitely worth a visit, with an architecturally very special hotel and a hydroelectric power station. There is also a regional museum combined with a small outdoor museum and a characteristic stave church to visit. For nature lovers, a day trip to the Hardangervida (national nature park) is well worthwhile. In winter you can go kite skiing here!
