Nature house in Valgorge

This nature house is a former farmhouse and is located in a hamlet of four houses just above the village of Valgorge in the south-western Ardeche, a five-minute walk away. There are beautiful views of the village and its surroundings from the various rooms and the surrounding grounds. In the village there is a small supermarket, a post office, a café-tabac, a hotel and a garage. In short, the basic amenities at hand, but no major entertainment. You come to Valgorge for the peace, nature, walks, streams, chestnut groves and meadows. The farm is detached and is rented as a whole. The garden offers privacy, sun and shade. Behind the garden is a footpath with at the entrance to the garden a "Lavoir" with a basin and (normally) running water. There are five bedrooms (four with two beds, one with one bed), two bathrooms (both with double sink and shower, one even with a bath as well), a study, a kitchen, three separate caves, a large garage-like space behind the house and a covered terrace. Bath and kitchen linens are available but must be left clean. Bed linen must be brought your own for the entire period (comforter covers), but there is a washing machine! You do the final cleaning yourself. Therefore, there is no extra charge for linen and final cleaning.

The surroundings of Valgorge are mountainous. Rough rocks alternate with lovely meadows and chestnut groves. The meadow and terraces, which belong to the property, are grazed by the caretaker's sheep. The ridge behind the house is 1500 meters high; Valgorge itself is at 550 meters. There are particularly good hiking opportunities, as well as cycling for the experienced cyclist. The mountain streams offer cool and clear water with idyllic swimming spots here and there. Especially the swimmer, who does some searching through the riverbed, will be surprised by waterfalls and swimming ponds. From the house the hiking trails lead up to the ridge, but other hiking areas are also worthwhile, such as in the area of Croix de Bauzon, where skiing is occasionally possible in winter. Larger cities and large supermarkets are about 30 car minutes away, a tourist area like Vallon Pont d'Arc about one hour.
