Nature house in Steggerda

Imagine yourself in the 1950s while staying in this nature house! The cottage is quiet and secluded with a large piece of private land on a country road. The cottage can accommodate six to seven people, and the kitchen is equipped with no unnecessary luxuries. There is an electric stove with oven, microwave and a coffee maker. The shower room has a hand shower and a sink. The "Deel" is the room where the cattle used to stand and is now furnished as a living/dining room. You can still see from the beams that in the distant past cows and goats stood there because it is somewhat gnawed. On the private property there is a playground and a sandpit. In the barn there is a washing machine and a second shower. In the cottage you will find two bedrooms, a section, a front room, a kitchen, a toilet and a shower/laundry room. The front room can also be used as a bedroom with a bed and three easy chairs and a couch.

In the vicinity you will find many forests with a diversity of vegetation. By crossing the country road you already find yourself on estate de Eese. This estate is still privately owned and there is free access. Here you will find dense forests to open moors with here and there a small pond where the carnivorous plant sundew grows. You can spot a grass snake here on a sunny day. Furthermore, nearby are dolmens to visit in Havelte, in Giethoorn you can take a walk or take a whisper boat and sail through the canals. Also in the area you will find the Drents Friesche forest and the Linde valley where you can rent a canoe to enjoy the beautiful nature around the Linde. Within reasonable distance are for example Leeuwarden, Drachten, Sneek and Meppel. You can also spend a day at Terschelling or Vlieland for which the boats leave from Harlingen, which is a very nice and historic town. At the harbor you can buy tickets for one of the islands, there you can also rent a bike for a small fee to explore Terschelling. Definitely worth it!
