Nature house in Schipborg

This nature house is located on a small park with four detached houses right on the Drentsche Aa. The houses are lined up along the stream so that each house has an unobstructed view of the Aa. The company has existed since 1927 and has passed from father to son. The son is now in charge and his father still does some manual labor. The houses are in the middle of the Stroomdal Drentsche Aa nature park. With a very long fishing rod you can fish almost from your house. There is a possibility to rent all four houses, for example for a family reunion. They also have special all-inclusive arrangements on request. You can also bring your own horse. Near the cottage is a meadow available. In late summer and autumn the hosts also have mushroom days for learning to recognize and prepare edible mushrooms. Upon request, they can also organize game-picking tours and a birding excursion. Pets are allowed and free, provided they behave nicely and do not cause a nuisance. It is a very spacious and comfortable nature house. The nature house is suitable for six people.

The Stroomdal van de Drentsche Aa nature reserve is part of the much larger national park: Nationaal Beek- en Esdorpenlandschap Drentsche Aa, approximately 15,000 hectares in size. The small-scale recreation park is virtually on the Pieterpad and the area is perfect for taking short and long walks and bike rides through the beautiful nature. In the Aa you can swim and canoe. The park borders a moorland with a sand drift and here dogs are also allowed to run free. Within walking distance of about 10 minutes is the first archaeological reserve of the Netherlands with dolmens, burial mounds and cart tracks. The size is about 300 hectares. Dogs are allowed along, but on a leash. Nearby is a part where dogs are allowed to run loose. Furthermore, the cottage is located against moors and forests. You can walk for hours without having to cross a major road. By car you can be in Assen or Groningen in 20 minutes. The poems of Rutger Kopland (1934-2012) about the Drentsche Aa originated largely on this spot.
