Nature house in Eyeries

This nature house is a modern, comfortable bungalow in Southwest Ireland. The cottage is located directly at the sea overlooking a colony of 20 seals. In the bay the seals rest in the sun on the rocks. They can be seen from the living room and by using the available telescope (suitable for day and night). With the house owner's boat you can look at these cute animals even better. The house is located in the southwest of County Cork on the beautiful Coulagh Bay on the Beara peninsula, 10 kilometers north of the fishing village of Castletownbere. The fishing lake Lough Fada is just down the road. The peninsula has a mild climate due to the warm wave flow. There are palm trees growing here. There is a beautiful nature with a rough beauty. Living on the Beara Peninsula (60x20 kilometers) are 5000 people! Because of this very low population density and the gentleness of the Irish, there is a calm atmosphere.

The area is a Special Area of ​​Conservation (SAC) with various flora and fauna specimens that enjoy protection. Because the peninsula does not know intensive traffic or agriculture, there is no pollution. There are several hiking trails that are often surrounded by nature. You walk along loughs and rivers overlooking the fjord-like Kenmare River and the mountains of Iveragh. As you enter the peninsula, you climb the Caha Mountains and the Slieve Miskish Mountains. These mountains form the backbone of the peninsula. The contrast between the staggering silence of giant rock masses and the beautiful deep blue waves of the Atlantic Ocean are a lust for the eye. The villages of Ardgroom, Eyeries and Allihies form rare small-scale occupation. In Allihies you walk between the old copper mines to Castletownbere, an attractive fishing village overlooking the Bantry Bay. There is an opportunity to get an introduction to keeping bees. The house owners have a hive with 10 bee colonies. Although you won't be stung by these buckfast bees soon, protective clothing is worn. Eyeries and Ardgroom are colorful, picturesque villages with shops, post offices and small pubs, where a spontaneous sing-song often arises. The area is rich in historical monuments and remains. The nearby Ogham Stone, the highest in Europe with 5.3 meters, is in memory of local King O'Sullivan.
