Nature house in Jistrum

What a wonderful spot to escape to and let your mind wander. This nature house is located just outside the village of Jistrum, near Burgum, between Leeuwarden, Dokkum, Drachten, and Lauwersmeer. It’s in a very central location, yet secluded, offering peace and space for 3 people. A completely renovated “forest cottage” situated on an idyllic sandy path in the Northern Frisian forests. On the ground floor, you’ll find a kitchen, dining and sitting area, and a bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with a ceramic cooktop, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer compartment, coffee maker, electric kettle, small oven, and toaster. The dining area seats four people, and there are two armchairs in the sitting area. You’ll have access to the internet, interactive TV, a DVD player, and a high-quality sound system. The bathroom features a toilet, a large sink, and a shower. A hair dryer, soap, and bath linens are provided. Upstairs is the bedroom with three made-up beds and a closet. Outside, you’ll find a small patio, a large garden, outdoor furniture, a barbecue, and a fire pit.

This nature house is situated in a quiet and secluded spot within a protected landscape—the heart of the Northern Frisian Woods. The area is characterized by centuries-old hedgerows that exude the cozy atmosphere of a wooded area. The flora and fauna here are diverse and abundant. In the morning, you’ll be awakened by a magnificent chorus of the many species of songbirds found here. You’ll find this cottage on the north side of the village of Jistrum, along a 300-year-old sandy path. The sandy path is located in an area—especially around Jistrum—with many more sandy trails suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding in Friesland. Five kilometers away is the marina with a boathouse on Lake Bergumermeer. Nearby, on the lake, there’s a public swimming area with a sunbathing lawn, a small beach, and a dock. In the surrounding area, the water sports and nature village of Earnewâld is well worth a visit. There, you can take a boat tour through a marshland area, the “De Alde Feanen” National Park. There you’ll see cormorants, storks, spoonbills, and, if you’re lucky, otters. Dokkum and Leeuwarden are beautiful historic cities. A day trip to one of the Wadden Islands is also highly recommended.
