Nature house in Poppenwier

This attractively furnished, old fisherman's cottage stands on the outskirts of the village of Poppenwier. You step into the hall, where you have access to the living room with open kitchen (with stove, oven, kettle and coffee maker). There is a dining table with two chairs and from the couch you can enjoy watching television. From the living room there is access to the utility room (with washing machine, fridge and microwave) and the separate toilet and bathroom (with rain shower and floor heating). Upstairs is the bedroom with a double bed (two single beds that you can slide apart). In the yard of Holiday Cottages Marsherne is a barrel sauna, which you can use for a fee. On the terrace you can sit in the sun. Come fishing, biking, boating or hiking in or around beautiful Poppenwier!

This nature house stands on the waterfront at the edge of the village, just between two bridges. In a green oasis of peace and space lie a number of small villages, each telling its own story. Part of the area is referred to as Lege Geaën. Poppenwier is one of these villages in this area. Poppenwier is a mound village with about 180 inhabitants and despite the relatively small number of inhabitants, Poppenwier has an active club life and activities are regularly organized for young and old. It must already be a very old village, because shards of pottery from the first to the twelfth century have been found in the mounds during excavations. The name Poppenwier is probably derived from the name "Poppe" and the Latin "wier" (mound). The village was designated a "protected village site" in 1991. Consequently, there are a large number of properties that appear on the monument list. The oldest asset of the village is a unique "Huguenot clock" from 1578 and a pulpit from 1700 located in the Reformed church restored in 1986. So you are at the edge of a small mound village among the meadows, on the Sneeker Oudvaart.
