This nature house is conveniently located in the Cevennes, near the Ardèche in the Gard. It is rural in a small valley in the Pays de Cèze in the Cevennes. The Cevennes is an ideal area for hikers, cyclists and lovers of nature, peace and quiet. Mountains, valleys and picturesque villages indicate the varied character of the Cévennes. In 2011 the Cévennes and the Causses (high plains) were included by UNESCO on the World Heritage List. The most important natural area in the Cevennes is the Cévennes National Park. The highest mountains are Mont Lozère and Mont Aigoual (1702 meters and 1567 meters), both part of the Massif Central. The Cevennes have also become famous for the Chemin de Stevenson, named after the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson who crossed the Cevennes on foot with his donkey Modestine. His travel journal: "Journey with a donkey through the Cevennes" was published in 1879. Later, this became the GR 70 Stevenson route.
