In the hamlet of Les Plantades you will find this nature house. The oldest part dates from around 1700. The right wing is the youngest and was built in the early 20th century. In addition to the large kitchen, the house has one living room, one large bedroom and two bedrooms. This makes the nature house suitable for two to eight people. The whole is built around a courtyard, the cour interior. Here there is a covered sitting area, the Chambre d'été, summer room. A wonderful place when it is too hot outside because there is always a cooling flow of air. Within walking distance there is the possibility of taking a cooling splash in a pool carved into the rock by the stream. The only heating consists of two wood stoves, one in the kitchen the other in the living room. Wood is available in the gate and otherwise in the cave under the living room, which is accessible from the outside. Because the house is built against the mountain slope, due to the many stairs, it is not suitable for people with mobile disabilities.

The surroundings of the house consist of sweet chestnut forests. At the time, this part of the Ardèche was an important producer of sweet chestnuts, from which mainly puree (whether sweetened or not) and flour were made. Due to the abandonment of the "flat" land on the one hand and a disease of the trees on the other, production has decreased tremendously. Most of the plantations, such as this one, have gone wild. Most of the chestnuts remain and now serve as food for wild boar, deer, seven sleepers and so on. Because the area is so nutrient-rich, one also finds a lot of wildlife. It is not strange to drive home in the evening and find a couple of wild boars on the road or a bunch of badgers that keep walking awkwardly in front of your car. Around the house are nut trees and hazels. In late July and August, the hazels are very popular with squirrels. Balancing over the telephone wire, they venture close to the house to devour the still soft hazelnuts.
