Nature house in Marvão

In the Portuguese Alentejo, in the hills of Marvão, these landlords rent three nature houses on their 12-hectare estate. This nature house shares a 90 m² swimming pool with one other nature house on this estate. About two thirds of the estate consists of hilly area, with scattered large rocks of granite and uncultivated nature. The area around the houses, about four acres, is laid out in terraces with grass and trees. There are all kinds of fruit trees, such as orange, peach, pomegranate and cherries. Thus, almost all year round there is ripe fruit right off the tree to pick. You will also find the typical trees of this area, the olive and chestnut trees and cork oaks.

This nature house is an excellent starting point to discover the area, enjoy nature and culture in the authentic Alentejo. Nearby Marvão with its medieval castle has less than 200 inhabitants and is protected by fortress walls and has always managed to keep off its attackers. The town with its castle is on UNESCO's World Heritage candidate list. Marvão is part of the São Mamede National Natural Park. The park covers 320 square kilometers and has a special flora and fauna due to its varied geology and its own microclimate. From the colorful bee-eater to the hawk eagle and from the tortoise to the Iberian wolf. The chances of seeing the latter, however, are very slim.The landscape of the Alentejo is very varied. In the south it is hilly and you will find the large landowners. Here in the north of the region, the landscape changes every few kilometers. Olive groves, chestnut forests, vineyards.... Sometimes rugged and mountainous and then again lovely and rolling.
