On a beautiful mountain road with enormous views you climb steadily to the farm with its two nature houses (the last 300 meters without asphalt). The residents of this farm can tell you everything about this (and further) environment. Do you want to know what silence sounds like? Do you feel like taking an hour-long walk without meeting a human being? Or what vegetables, mushrooms from the land taste like? Then be a guest at this small-scale organic farm in the heart of the Parc National des Cevennes. The farm's thirty-acre property is sandwiched between two wildly flowing streams where a flock of sheep and ponies graze. Here are the two nature houses: these are old renovated sheep barns and have a space of about 60 m². They are completely self-sufficient nature houses with their own entrance and private terrace, they are located a little distance from each other.

Nature and surroundings

This nature house offers an ideal base for exploring the region. Just from the front door into the mountains, or: Canoeing in the Gorge du Tarn, skiing on the Mont Lozere, or cycling and hiking in one of the last untouched nature reserves in this part of Europe. Of course, you can also choose to walk the route as R.L. Stevenson did before you (GR 70) in 1878; in the company of a donkey. The plateaus of the Cevennes reminded him strongly of Scotland and he was very fascinated by the religious war that had raged in the area in the early 18th century, during the time of Louis the fourteenth. There are several organizations or private individuals in the area where you can reserve a donkey. Of course, the landlords can also organize it for you with their fellow farmers.

The house really has everything you need and is very cozy. In the garden there is a wonderful hammock, a rocking chair and a table with chairs.

We had three wonderful weeks in the peace and seclusion of the Cevennes. Leonore and Charles are wonderful hosts. If you are looking for peace and nature, you are in very good hands here. We hiked a lot in the surrounding area.

The cottage is beautifully situated at the end of one of the valleys in the Cevennes. The road leading to it is in itself breathtaking. Inside, the cottage is fully equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher. Be careful to sit outside by yourself on hot days (when not enjoying the surroundings) and keep all windows and doors closed during the day to keep most of the heat out. In the evening it invariably cools down after that. This makes the stay pleasant even on very hot days. This place is highly recommended if you love peace and quiet and beautiful views.

What a wonderful place to spend our vacation. So much peace and quiet and space, fantastic. We took some lovely walks, went swimming or lounged in and around the house in the hammock or hammock bag. This place really has something for everyone, which was all made a lot easier by Charles and Leonore's tips on where to be in the area (and what exactly to see, from granite gardens to limestone or slate). Thank you for letting us stay here and for the tips on the area.

The cottage is very cozy. Beautiful ochre colors, everywhere corners where you can sit or lie down, a crackling wood stove, you would almost start to hope that one day it rains to enjoy this ... Everything is there, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and bath, bedroom and sleeping loft, all the trimmings. The Mas is well located for excursions in the area. There is a lot to do in that area too. Been on vacation in France a lot, but this was the cream of the crop for us....

We were here on vacation for 14 days in September 2021.We were looking for a place that was secluded, and we found it here. Complete silence, no cars to hear only natural sounds to enjoy. The reception was particularly warm. Very sweet people who are always ready for a chat, but on the other hand completely guarantee your privacy. The view is phenomenal. You can fully enjoy nature. Burning deer, wild boar, owls, birds of prey, all are regularly spotted in this little paradise. In the late evening you can enjoy a cricket concert under the huge starry sky. Overwhelming, never to be forgotten.

What does “contactless stay” mean?
You can stay here without personal contact with the host, for example via a key safe or digital access. A contactless stay does not always have to be mandatory.
What does “Fireworks-free” mean?
The host indicates that the area is firework-free. Firework-free means that no firework bangs can be heard in and around the accommodation. You might occasionally hear some noise or see some light from fireworks set off outside the immediate area. It is important that you agree with the landlord on what you can expect.
