Nature house in Morgedal

Bookable only from May through September! A beautiful nature house on a lake, surrounded by woods. When you step off the boat in Norway, the silence and open space immediately wash over you, but once you arrive in Morgedal, you’ll instantly feel at home in the village where modern skiing was born. Every Norwegian knows the town of Morgedal as “skyvogge”—the cradle of skiing. In front of the nature house lies a large lake where you can fish without a permit and take a refreshing dip to wake up. The nature house is fully equipped, and within walking distance of the village, you’ll find a swimming pool and a ski museum. Over the past few years, we’ve renovated it to make it a cozy, warm home again, and we’re happy to share it with others. We hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do :-)

Norway is all about nature, so as soon as you step out onto the porch, you’re truly outdoors. Several seating areas have been set up on the porch where you can sit in either the shade or the sun. Within five minutes, you can be out in the woods all by yourself, exercising on a mountain bike or jogging, or finding peace and quiet while hiking. For longer trips, you can head to Lårdalsstigen, Hardangervidda, or Setesdal. Other options for multi-day trips include Bø Sommerland (a water park for kids in the summer), the Morgedal Ski Museum, Rauland Ski Center, Eidfjord Stave Church, Ulefoss, Oslo (two hours), Haukelisaeter fjellstua (1 hour 30 minutes), Rjukan (1 hour 15 minutes), Odda (three hours), or Lysebotn (three hours). The hardy among us can saw and split their own firewood (at their own risk). There is unprocessed wood in the parking lot that can be sawed and split.
