Nature house in Saint-Bonnet-Elvert

Near the village of Saint-Bonnet-Elvert in the upper Dordogne you will find a beautiful, spacious nature house in a lovingly restored authentic Limousin farmhouse. You can relax in the garden of one hectare surrounded by meadows and woods at 500 meters altitude with a breathtaking view of the mountains of the Cantal in the Massif Central.The gîte is located in the grange (large converted barn attached to the farm from around 1800, typical of the Limousin) with beautiful oak beams and natural stone walls.In the large dining room you will find spacious wooden tables, cozy lighting and a corner with chairs, books and games. The spacious hygienic kitchen is fully equipped with coffee maker, kettle, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and all other utensils, crockery and cutlery. There is also a barbecue.Via the stairs you reach the floor with five rooms with beamed ceilings, partially natural stone walls and light oak floors. Three rooms have two single beds that can be pushed together; two rooms have bunk beds and a single bed. The beds have good mattresses. The rooms each have a private shower room with toilet.In front of the grange is a large terrace with beautiful wooden tables, umbrellas, a sitting area and you have a beautiful view over the mountains of Auvergne (Monts de Cantal). You walk straight into the sunny garden where there are five huge walnut trees. Behind them begins the forest with hiking trails. If you bring a dog, for example, he can have a great time here.

A fifteen minute drive from your nature house brings you to the picturesque Argentat on the Dordogne River with a cozy quay, all stores and the like and a weekly market (first and third Thursday of the month is the 'big market' where you can spend a few hours searching). Furthermore, terraces and restaurants and in the area everything France has to offer: spread over several departments (Corrèze, Auvergne, Puy-de-Dôme, Lot, Dordogne) you can visit medieval towns such as Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, Colloges-la-Rouge, Turenne, Curemont and a little further Rocamadour, beautiful well-marked hiking trails through forests, villages, pastures, lakes and rivers. You will see many animals, including protected bird species and fragrant and colorful plants, flowers and herbs, walnuts and sweet chestnuts. And how about delicious self-found edible mushrooms (cèpes, chanterelles) and fruits (wild strawberries, berries) or trout fishing? Other places worth seeing include Chateau de Sedières and Les Tours-de-Merle. The capital of the Corrèze department - Tulle - is half an hour away by car and an even larger city - Brive-la-Gaillarde - is 46 kilometers from Saint-Bonnet-Elvert.You can, for example, make a beautiful day trip to the famous cheese town of Salers in the Cantal and then continue your way through the mountains over the Puy Mary (Auvergne) with its meadows full of wild flowers and return via Argentat to the nature house.You can swim in one of the natural lakes or in the beautiful outdoor pool of Argentat.
