Nature house in Moddergat

This is a cozy, detached nature house, suitable for up to 4 or 5 people. On-site parking and a garage for storing bicycles. A major advantage in a village where parking space is limited. The former shellfish fisherman’s cottage, built in 1897, is located in the small village of Moddergat. The backyard borders the seawall. From the living room, you have a magnificent, unobstructed view of the countryside. The cottage features all modern comforts and a fully equipped kitchen. There is one double bedroom downstairs, and the bathroom with toilet is also located downstairs. There is a second toilet downstairs in the utility room. A narrow staircase leads to a double bedroom on the upper floor, and a second staircase leads to a single bedroom. This nature house is smoke-free.

The nature house is located in the twin village of Paesens-Moddergat. The village is situated in the northeasternmost part of Friesland, right on the Wadden Sea. From the backyard, you can walk straight onto the dike, with the ever-changing scenery of the beautiful Wadden Sea region stretching out behind you. You can see the island of Schiermonnikoog across the water in almost all weather conditions. To your left, you’ll see Ameland. Part of the former fishing village is a protected historic district. In this area lies the open-air museum ‘t Fiskershuske, where the history of the vanished coastal fishing industry and fishing culture is kept alive. Further into the village is the small shrimp processing plant. The village also has a tea room and a café-snack bar. For all your grocery shopping, head to the nearby village of Anjum. You can reach the beautiful fishing harbor of Lauwersoog in about a quarter of an hour. It’s a wonderful place to relax in one of the many seafood restaurants there. The ferry to Schiermonnikoog departs from here. In Holwerd, the ferry to Ameland departs. You can reach Holwerd in about half an hour. The beautiful Lauwersmeer nature reserve is well worth a visit.
