Nature house in Sart-Lez-Spa (Jalhay)
Liège, Belgium
- 6 persons
- 3 bedrooms
- WiFi
- Pets allowed
Spacious (>250 m²) postmodern bungalow (1975) in the Hoëgne River valley in the hills of the High Fens, Belgian Ardennes. The home is simply and very practically furnished. It features comfortable box-spring beds and all standard kitchen appliances. For new bookings, the number of guests has recently been intentionally limited to 4; larger families are certainly welcome, but please contact us to discuss arrangements. Rentals of up to 3 months are possible. Expect a wonderfully spacious home—certainly not a five-star property, but “back to basics” with a touch of luxury. The house is a perfect starting point for exploring this beautiful natural area. Nearby: Coo, Francorchamps, Spa, Banneux, Monschau. The house is situated in the middle of the forest—this is a completely different way of living than in a city. The house is heated with fuel oil, electricity, and/or pellets—no gas! Expect additional energy costs on cold winter days. You’ll receive a free wheelbarrow full of firewood. Pellets cost €9 per new bag. Pellets are an affordable and pleasant way to heat your home!
Nature and surroundings
The High Fens get plenty of rain. You’ll be living right in the middle of the forest. In the winter, you might just come across a deer in your yard. Raccoons, wild boars—they all live in the surrounding forests! Here, you’re truly out in nature. So don’t compare living here to living in a city or a village. It is a bit spartan. From the house, you can walk directly along the Hoëgne River to the beautiful forest and moorland areas of the High Fens and Belgium’s highest point: the Baraque Michel. The High Fens are marshy, so stay on the trails. Along the way, you won’t encounter any signs of civilization, allowing you to fully enjoy what nature has to offer. You can also easily take a day trip by car to Monschau, Liège, Verviers, Aachen, Maastricht, or Luxembourg. Closer by are the lovely towns of Spa and Malmedy. You can also take the kids out for the day to the thermal baths in Spa, Plopsaland Coo, or the waterfalls. The pilgrimage site of Banneux is also nearby.

The cottage was very spacious and was nicely situated in the middle of the forest. There were a few minor issues, though—for example, the low water pressure and the fact that some of the lights didn't work properly—but other than that, everything was great!
Het huisje was erg ruim, en lag fijn midden in het bos. Er waren wel een paar dingetjes kwa aan; bijvoorbeeld de lage waterdruk en functionaliteit van sommige lampen, maar verder alles prima!
Very spacious and quiet
Erg ruim en rustig

The house is spacious and beautifully situated. The somewhat inferior comfort you will gladly take for granted here! This is also mentioned in the description of this house. We had everything we needed and had a wonderful stay
Het huis is ruim en prachtig gelegen. De wat mindere comfort neem je hier graag voor lief! Dit wordt ook genoemd in de beschrijving van dit huis. We hadden alles wat we nodig hadden en hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad
An extraordinary house in a very beautiful place.
Een bijzonder huis op een wel heel mooie plek.

Spacious house with a cozy fireplace and outside bbq area. We enjoyed watching the sunsets from the living room while spending quality time with our family. Super friendly and helpful host.
Beautiful surroundings with trees and waterfalls - we could hear the sound of the water and birds chirping. We could also see horses from the house. It was such a relaxing atmosphere.
