Delightful, simple and charming nature house two kilometers from the beach by the Westerschelde estuary. The cottage is located in a hamlet belonging to the village of Walsoorden in the municipality of Hulst. Walsoorden is a small harbor village on the Westerschelde. The kitchen is fully equipped including a combination microwave, coffee maker, fridge/freezer, grill, kettle and four-burner stove. There is a new central heating system in the cottage. Nature and surroundings
Two kilometers away is the sandy beach of Perkpolder. The Perkpolder area is being developed into a nature reserve. We won't be going there very often anymore!
Wij gaan hier niet zo snel meer naar toe!
What immediately struck us was that the cottage was in need of maintenance. For example, we saw many stains on the radiators and dead flies on the ceiling. The paint definitely needs a fresh coat. In some places, we noticed wood rot. In short, we found the experience unpleasant. We also couldn’t sit outside because of a (Colorado) beetle infestation. The toilet seat wasn’t secured properly, and there was no handrail on the stairs leading upstairs.
That led us to decide to go home on the 6th day instead of staying for the agreed-upon 10 days.
There were definitely some positives, too: There were plenty of kitchen linens and bedding, and there were plenty of towels.
We were also able to use the bicycles and the washer/dryer.
The bed was already made when we arrived.
The view of the polder was great!Wat ons gelijk opviel, was dat het huisje achterstallig onderhoud had. Zo zagen we veel vlekken op de verwarming en dode vliegen tegen het plafond. Het verfwerk heeft zeker een verfrissing nodig. Op sommige plekken constateerde wij houtrot. Kortom ervaarde wij het als onsmakelijk. Ook buiten konden we niet zitten ivm een ( Colorado) kever plaag. De w.c. bril zat niet goed vast en als je naar boven ging dan was er geen trapleuning.
Dat heeft ons doen besluiten om op de 6e dag al naar huis te gaan ipv de besproken 10 dagen.
Er waren ook zeker pluspunten: Er was genoeg keuken textiel / beddengoed, en handdoeken waren er genoeg.
Ook konden we gebruik maken van de fietsen en wasmachine/ droger.
Het bed was ook al opgemaakt toen we aankwamen.

Er staan dan wel weer een paar fietsen in de schuur ( ook kinderfietsen), een wasmachine en een droger...voor wie dit van belang is. Ook fijn dat de hond hier welkom is.
