Na een opknapbeurt komen we zeker terug

We were here on the hottest day of 2026. It was quite comfortable inside. Unfortunately, we couldn’t open the windows in the evening because the screens weren’t working properly. There were a lot of bugs. Within five minutes, the dogs had figured out how to escape from the garden. It’s a shame they had to stay inside because of that. In our opinion, the cottage could use some renovations. The front door lock didn’t work properly, so we got locked out once (though we were able to fix it ourselves with some tools).
The garden is a bit overgrown, so you don’t have a view when you’re sitting inside or on the patio.
You can, however, enjoy the nature all around you.

We zaten tijdens de heetste dag van 2026 hier. Het was binnen goed uit te houden. Helaas konden de ramen 's avonds niet open omdat de horren niet goed werkte. Er waren heel veel insecten. De honden hadden binnen 5 minuten ontdekt hoe ze konden ontsnappen uit de tuin. Jammer dat die dus ook binnen moesten blijven. Voor onze begrippen heeft het huisje wel een opknapbeurt nodig. Het slot van de voordeur werkte niet goed zodat we een keer buitengesloten waren (we hebben het zelf wel met gereedschap weer op kunnen lossen)
De tuin is een beetje te wild zodat je geen uitzicht heb als je binnen of op het terras zit.
Je kunt wel genieten van de natuur overal om je heen.

The house itself has a very rustic decor, but it has everything you need, and the owner is very attentive and quick to address any questions or concerns.
There are many beautiful places to explore by bike in the surrounding area (Frisian villages, farm cafés, Leeuwarden, etc.). If you’re traveling with a dog, however, you should be careful which bike paths you choose, as some lead through pastures where the paths are frequently blocked by fences that are difficult for a dog to get over.

Das Haus an sich ist sehr rustikal eingerichtet, man findet aber alles, was man braucht und die Hausbesitzerin kümmert sich sehr fürsorglich und schnell bei allen Fragen und Angelegenheiten.
In der Umgebung gibt es viele schöne Plätze mit dem Rad zu erkunden (Friesendörfer, Hof Cafés, Leeuwarden, etc.). Wenn man einen Hund dabeihat, sollte man jedoch aufpassen welche Radwege man wählt, da manche über Weiden führen, auf denen immer wieder die Wege von Gittern unterbrochen sind, die für einen Hund schwer zu überwinden sind.

The house is situated in the middle of large pastures and is surrounded by trees and bushes, making it hidden from view and offering plenty of peace and seclusion to enjoy nature. Even in the fenced-in, natural garden, you’ll encounter all kinds of animals. Ducks nest on the property, and hares and stoats run across the meadow. There are many different spots around the house where you can enjoy the sun and the peace and quiet and watch the birds. But there are also plenty of shaded areas.
That said, there’s also an air force base nearby, and you can hear jet planes 2–3 times a day. However, this is relatively brief and doesn’t happen before 9:00 a.m., after 4:00 p.m., or on weekends. The surrounding meadows are also farmed and are mowed and fertilized by the farmers—but that didn’t bother us.

Das Haus liegt in der Mitte von großen Kuhweiden und ist umringt von Bäumen und Büschen und somit uneinsehbar und man hat sehr viel Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit, um die Natur zu genießen. Selbst im umzäunten, naturbelassenen Garten trifft man allerhand Tiere. Enten brüten auf dem Gelände und Hasen und Hermeline laufen über die Wiese. Es gibt viele verschieden Plätze rund um das Haus, an denen man die Sonne und die Ruhe genießen und die Vögel beobachten kann. Man findet aber auch ausreichend Schattenplätze.
Allerdings befindet sich in der Nähe auch ein Luftwaffenstützpunkt und man hört 2-3 mal täglich Düsenjets. Dies ist aber relativ kurz und nicht vor 9:00 Uhr, nicht nach 16:00 Uhr und nicht am Wochenende. Die Wiesen rundherum werden auch bewirtschaftet und von den Bauern gemäht und gedüngt – das hat uns jedoch nicht gestört.

It's basic, but there is an electric cooler, a simple camping toilet, a shower, and a wood stove. Drinking water is provided in large jerry cans.

Basic maar er is wel een koelbox op stroom, een eenvoudige campingtoilet, een douche en een houtkachel. Drinkwater uit grote jerrycans wordt beschikbaar gesteld.

A simple cottage near a windmill, surrounded by meadow birds, hares, and cows. Enjoy a peaceful moment in the sunshine or visit charming Frisian villages like Wyns and Bartlehiem. Dokkum and Leeuwarden aren’t far either! We’ll be back!

Eenvoudig huisje bij een molen tussen de weidevogels, de hazen en de koeien. Lekker rustig zitten in het zonnetje of leuke Friese dorpjes als Wyns, Bartlehiem bezoeken. Ook Dokkum en Leeuwarden zijn niet ver ! Wij komen terug !
