The southern Thuringian Forest is one of the most beautiful low mountain ranges in Europe and is also known as "The Green Heart of Germany". Extensive hiking trails are perfect for full-day tours or walks. The historic, famous Rennsteig is one of the most popular and well-known hiking trails in Germany. This detached holiday home in a distinctive, quiet and sunny location is on the outskirts of the small village of Engenstein and borders directly on the forest. Make yourself comfortable on the covered terrace and enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding woods. The holiday home can be reached from the parking lot (approx. 50 m) via a small path (see pictures). The region offers an extensive range of sports and leisure activities as well as numerous attractions and museums in both summer and winter. Popular excursion destinations in the area include Erfurt (60 km), Weimar (70 km) or Eisenach (100 km).
