Flora

Above 1000 meters you will find only spruce, the larch grows even higher and the alpine pine is about the top of the tree population.

Fauna

If you have a good view of the rocks and cliffs there’s a good chance to see the ibex. For all the bird lovers, there is also the opportunity to observe and admire the griffon vulture and the tiny goldcrest. Other animals that you can witness in Austria are mostly typical for Central Europe: marmots, mountain cows, deer, hares, martens, pheasants, and foxes. You should be careful when going to the southern central mountain regions because bears are still part of the resident wildlife there.
