This 6-person dune house is a true family home. Upon arrival, you’ll find a magazine with vacation tips from three generations who enjoy “taking it easy” on Terschelling in various family configurations. The detached house is nestled in the dunes and located right by the beach access at Midsland aan Zee. Walk across the dunes and discover the expansive Terschelling beach. Stroll through the dunes to a charming beach bar or bike along crunchy shell-covered paths straight to the Formerumer Forest. The house is tastefully decorated, with colors and materials inspired by Terschelling’s natural surroundings. The house is single-story and wheelchair-accessible; it’s threshold-free with 80 cm wide doors. On cool evenings, you can light the fireplace and listen to the sound of the waves. On warm evenings, enjoy the sun on the lounge sofas of the spacious, sheltered terrace. Thanks to the excellent Wi-Fi, a “workation” is also an option. Dogs are welcome from November 1 through April 15. We do not rent to guests under the age of 21.
Nature and surroundings
The dunes surrounding the house are part of Terschelling’s largest contiguous dune area. Hiking and biking trails wind right through them, past marram grass, dune violets, and blue sea thistles. To the east lies the Boschplaat, which accounts for one-third of the island. This European Nature Reserve features a wide, bird-rich beach and a vast salt marsh area. Some seventy species of birds breed here. The Wadden Sea has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2009. At low tide, the mudflats dry out and seals rest on the sandbars. You can also go mudflat walking there, barefoot through the mud. If you cycle along the crunchy shell-covered paths, you’ll naturally end up at the Formerumerbos. This forest was planted to stabilize the dune sand. The Boschplaat is a recognized Dark Sky Park. On a clear evening, you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye, and the starry sky above the house is also a beautiful sight.
