Nature house in Diepenheim

I didn't give it a 10 because it's a new house and there was still some room for improvement.

Ik heb geen 10 gegeven omdat het een nieuw huis is en er nog wel wat te verbeteren viel.

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful house.
It was a shame, though, that the exterior wasn't finished yet.
But even though everything wasn't quite as it should have been, we still had a great time.
Beautiful surroundings, and definitely a great place for biking.

Wij hebben een fijne week gehad in dit mooie huis.
Wel jammer dat het buiten het huis nog niet af was.
Maar ondanks het feit dat alles nog niet was wat het hoorde te zijn hebben wij genoten.
Mooie omgeving en zeker ook om te fietsen.

However, this action turned out to have provoked the wrath of a gentleman, who came to confront us about it during dinner. He didn’t introduce himself but went straight on the offensive: “Did we think that was normal…,” At first, we didn’t know what he meant, but it turned out to be about the rickety garden chairs we had temporarily taken into use. I apologized and began returning the chairs to the construction site. He added that he could have filed a police report as well.
I asked who he actually was, since he hadn’t introduced himself. His reply: “The Owner.” It wasn’t clear whether this referred to the garden chairs, the house under construction, or the entire property.
I found the incident very unpleasant and unfriendly, which led us to decide to leave early.
P.S. It’s a beautiful house in a lovely location; unfortunately, our stay didn’t go as smoothly as we’d hoped.

Met deze actie bleken wij echter de toorn van een mijnheer te hebben opgewekt, die ons hiervan tijdens het diner kond kwam doen. Hij stelde zich niet voor, maar ging gelijk in de aanval: 'of wij dat normaal vonden ...', wij wisten aanvankelijk niet wat hij bedoelde, maar het bleek dus te gaan over de scharrige tuinstoeltjes die wij wij tijdelijk in gebruik hadden genomen. Ik bood excuses aan en begon de stoeltjes terug te brengen naar de bouwlocatie. Hij vermeldde nog dat hij ook aangifte bij de politie had kunnen doen.
Ik vroeg nog wie hij dan eigenlijk was, want hij had zich niet voorgesteld. Het antwoord: 'De Eigenaar'. Het werd niet duidelijk of dit de tuinstoeltjes, het huis in aanbouw of het gehele terrein betrof.
Ik heb voorval als zeer onprettig en onsympathiek ervaren, waardoor wij besloten voortijdig te vertrekken.
N.B. het is een mooi huis op een fraaie plek, helaas is het verblijf in ons geval minder prettig verlopen.

It’s a very nice house with a living/dining room, two bedrooms, bathrooms, and all kinds of amenities. Everything was in perfect order. Unfortunately, the peace and quiet during our stay was regularly disrupted by trucks pulling up and driving away on the road, about 15 meters from the house. Maybe/hopefully/probably this isn’t always the case, but it certainly was during our stay. The second drawback was that there was little shade around the house—we were staying there during the warmer days of August. Although there was a sturdy picnic table on the small patio, it turned out to be too heavy to move to the few shady spots. We thought we’d found a solution when we came across two rickety garden chairs at the neighboring vacation home under construction—where no construction work was taking place that day. With those, we were better able to seek out the shade around our vacation home. But maybe we shouldn’t have done that…

Het is een zeer fraai huis met woon/eetkamer, twee slaapkamers en toiletten en allerlei voorzieningen. Alles was tip top in orde. Helaas werd de rust tijdens ons verblijf regelmatig verstoord door aan- en afrijdende vrachtwagens op de weg, plus minus 15 meter van het huis. Misschien/hopelijk/waarschijnlijk is dit niet altijd zo, maar tijdens ons verblijf dus wel. Het tweede minpunt was dat er rond het huis, wij verbleven er in de warmere dagen van augustus, weinig schaduw te vinden was. Op het terrasje stond weliswaar een robuuste picknicktafel, maar die bleek te zwaar om naar de spaarzame schaduwplekjes te verplaatsen. Wij dachten een oplossing gevonden te hebben toen we bij het naastgelegen vakantiehuis in aanbouw, waar die dag geen bouwactiviteiten plaatsvonden, twee aftandse tuinstoeltjes aantroffen. Daarmee konden we beter de schaduw rond ons vakantiehuis opzoeken. Maar dat hadden we misschien beter niet kunnen doen ...

The only reason we’re not giving our stay a 10 is because there was a miscommunication about the number of beds. In the listing for the cottage, we had seen that there were supposed to be two bedrooms. This was perfect for us since it was a mother-daughter trip. Upon arrival at the cottage, however, it turned out that there was only one double bed. After contacting the owners, this was resolved the next day by adding a second bed. They had assumed we were a couple. A lesson learned for next time. From now on, we’ll make sure to specify when booking if we need two beds. But it’s still strange that the listing said there were two bedrooms when that wasn’t actually the case.

Other than that, we really had nothing to complain about. We heard that we were the first guests to stay there, and it showed. Everything looked so new and neat! And what a space. Sometimes photos make a vacation home look much bigger than it is, but this cottage is truly very spacious!

De enige reden dat wij ons verblijf geen 10 geven is omdat er miscommunicatie was over de hoeveelheid bedden. Bij de advertentie van het huisje hadden wij zien staan dat er 2 slaapkamers zouden zijn. Dit was voor ons perfect omdat het om een moeder dochter trip ging. Bij aankomst in het huisje bleek echter dat er maar één tweepersoonsbed was. Na contact met de eigenaren is dit de volgende dag opgelost door een tweede bed te plaatsen. Zij waren er van uit gegaan dat wij een stel waren. Leermomentje voor de volgende keer. Wij zullen voortaan bij het boeken doorgeven wanneer wij twee bedden nodig hebben. Maar het blijft vreemd dat er bij de advertentie had gestaan dat er twee slaapkamers waren, terwijl dit niet zo was.

Verder hebben wij écht niets te klagen gehad. Wij hoorden dat wij de eerste huurders waren en dat was te zien. Alles zag er zo nieuw en netjes uit! En wat een ruimte. Soms doen foto's een vakantiehuisje veel groter lijken dan het is, maar dit huisje is écht heel ruim!

We really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of the cottage. In the evenings, we went for lovely walks, and during the day we rented bikes to cycle the 6 Castles Route. Highly recommended!

We hebben genoten van de rustige omgeving van het huisje. S avonds hebben we er heerlijk gewandeld en overdag hebben we fietsen gehuurd om de 6 kastelen route te fietsen. Echt een aanrader!
