A cozy cottage, tucked away in the countryside, within biking distance of Delft and Rotterdam—and, for those willing to go the extra mile, The Hague. Privacy, with a private patio and parking right outside the door. The tastefully decorated cottage offers unobstructed views of the meadows. A sheltered little terrace, surrounded by flowers, offers a wonderful place to relax. If you’d like, I’ll make you breakfast with fresh eggs, homemade jam, and homemade bread. The cottage is located in our garden, where we grow organic vegetables. Our goats help us clear away excess branches and leaves, and our chickens ensure that every scrap of food is put to good use. You can make your own coffee and tea. There are no cooking facilities. If you’d like, you can enjoy a meal made with produce from our garden for a small fee.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is nestled between the Ackerdijkse Plassen, a nature reserve managed by Natuurmonumenten, and the Delfland Water Board’s flood control reservoir. The Ackerdijkse Plassen consist of a bird sanctuary where spoonbills, storks, cormorants, and many meadow birds live. Our garden is full of flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and bumblebees. Swallows nest in our barn every year. A bike path runs past our house (bike junction 64), connecting to lovely cycling routes through the polders and to the major cities in the area. The charming city of Delft, full of restaurants and cafés, is a 20-minute bike ride from here. A trip to the Rotterdam metropolitan area—with its impressive harbors, entertainment along the Maas River, museums, and the Euromast—is also well worth it.
