Our vacation home (50 m2) has a large (1,100 m2) fenced-in garden with lovely spots to sit and watch the many birds and squirrels. The cottage features vintage furniture and a beautiful old wooden floor. The layout includes a living room with a wood stove, a sofa, two armchairs, a dining table and chairs, and a separate work desk. There is an open kitchen with a refrigerator, gas stove, combination microwave, dishwasher, drip coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle, and hand blender. Bedroom 1 has a sink and a double bed that can be separated into two 80-cm-wide beds (see photos). Bedroom 2 has a 140-cm-wide double bed. There is also a shower with a sink and a separate toilet with a sink. You can watch TV via Digitenne or Chromecast (bring your own!). The Wi-Fi works great. At the adjacent Park Drentheland, guests can use the outdoor pool, playgrounds, and table tennis tables for free. Tennis and mini-golf are available for a small fee. Bicycles are available for rent at the front desk.
Nature and surroundings
The peace and quiet, all that greenery with chirping birds and squirrels: our fenced-in garden (1,100 m²) is a true little paradise with plenty of privacy. Just outside the park is a small forest where you can take a nice short walk. If you’d like to walk farther or longer, you can do so on the heathlands of the Drents-Friese Wald nature reserve, just a few minutes’ walk away. Another nice spot is the nearby Aekingermeer (3 km by bike), where you can enjoy a swim or relax on various small beaches. Right nearby is a popular, sand-enclosed pond for dogs and horses. Near Zorgvlied, there are all kinds of charming villages, such as Vledder, Diever, and Dwingeloo. But there’s also plenty of beauty to discover right nearby. In Zorgvlied itself, there are beautiful cottages—built by the former Society of Benevolence—that are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
