Welcome to T&J, filled with love. We are Tinus and Josja, and we warmly welcome you to this special place next to the Spengse Molen in Kockengen. Right on the edge of the miller’s cottage yard stands the 1980s Bassie & Adria caravan. Facing west by the water, with sweeping views across the meadows. This is a place for adventurers who love getting back to basics. That means cooking on a camp stove, building a campfire in the evening, using an outdoor toilet, and showering in a solar-powered outdoor shower. And you can take a “bath” in natural water from the dock in front of the house. Please note: the bed is small (120-200), so you’ll have to be very fond of each other. You’ll also need to love nature and animals, because there’s plenty of both. In addition to meadow birds, loudly croaking frogs, and possibly spiders and mosquitoes, you’ll find 12 curious ducks, 2 cats doing their own thing, and 2 sweet dogs. They sometimes bark, but you can count on us to keep any disturbance to a minimum.
Nature and surroundings
The small village of Kockengen lies in the heart of the “Green Heart,” and just outside the village, at the end of a dike, is our little mill house (Spengense Mill). Even though you’re in the middle of nowhere here, you can still reach Utrecht or Amsterdam within 20–30 minutes. We’re not accessible by car, but you can reach us by walking 1 km along the dike (there are also 2 visitor bikes available). If you happen to bring too much luggage, a wheelbarrow is available. Please note: we have our own sewage system, and sometimes it makes a humming noise. Just a stone’s throw away is the Spengense Mill, which operates every Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When the mill is running, the miller, John, is on hand. Feel free to stop by—he’ll be happy to welcome you and tell you everything you want to know about it.
