Goldregen is a lovingly furnished, cozy and snug attic apartment in the Waldhaus, built in 1957—not a sterile hotel, but a warm retreat with wabi-sabi charm. Spanning just under 60 m², you’ll find a spacious bedroom with two single beds pushed together (which can be separated upon request), a cozy sofa, a small east-facing balcony for coffee in the morning sun, and plenty of space for yoga for two; two yoga mats are provided. In the living room, there is a comfortable daybed that serves as a sleeping spot for a third person—and otherwise as a favorite spot for reading, cuddling, and daydreaming. The wood-burning stove provides cozy warmth; we provide plenty of firewood. There is also a cozy dining/work area under the south-facing skylight, a cheerful, well-equipped kitchen with a Nespresso capsule machine and a dining area for 2–3 people, as well as a newly renovated bathroom with a spacious bathtub and a view of the treetops and the sky.
Nature and surroundings
At 800 meters above sea level, at the quiet upper end of a small road, the forest begins right outside the door. Here in the Northern Black Forest, there are no streetlights: at night, the moon and stars shine; during the day, forest trails, quiet moments of reflection, and a small, fairy-tale-like path lined with moss-covered blueberry bushes and fir trees invite you to take a deep breath—we’d be happy to show you where it is. The Waldhaus is part of a sunny south-facing clearing, surrounded by conifers and laburnum trees; in spring, the blossoms are buzzing with bees. As a bonus, you’re welcome to use the sunny south-facing balcony on the ground floor. You’ll have exclusive use of the Waldhaus; there are no other guests in the house. Baden-Baden, with its legendary park, old town, and thermal baths, is about a 35-minute drive away; the Black Forest High Road is 15–20 minutes away, and the famous Mummelsee is about 30 minutes away. Alsace and Strasbourg also make for lovely day trips.
