Our estate, “De Grote Schaersberg,” is located between the Hanseatic city of Deventer and De Sallandse Heuvelrug/Holterberg National Park. It’s perfect for those seeking peace and quiet, cyclists, hikers, and nature lovers. Come experience it for yourself…you’re most welcome! We are Anko and Wouter, and we’ve been the proud owners of the “De Grote Schaersberg” estate since 2017. We recently built a detached guesthouse on our estate so that guests can enjoy this wonderful place too. New, spacious, and luxurious in a fantastic location with plenty of privacy—where you’ll still be woken up by woodpeckers! The B&B is a large, detached thatched-roof building with a spacious entryway and restroom, a large living room with lots of windows, a luxurious kitchen, and a pantry. A fixed staircase leads to the loft areas and three bedrooms. Two of these bedrooms feature a double bed and share a luxurious bathroom. There’s also a spacious suite with a box spring bed, a private bathroom, and an unparalleled view! Private garden included!

The guesthouse is surrounded by a private garden with two terraces and an unobstructed view of meadows and forests. Private parking is also available. The Sallandse Heuvelrug and Holterberg are right nearby, offering fantastic opportunities for hiking and biking. From the top of the hill, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view stretching for kilometers across the heath, and you can wander endlessly without running into a soul. Plus: If you’re lucky, you might even spot a black grouse! Towns such as Holten, Nijverdal, Raalte, and Bathmen are nearby. A little further away lies the artistic and charming village of Gorssel (More Museum) and Zutphen. Deventer is highly recommended for a fun day trip! Just 12 km away, you’ll find a multitude of unique shops you won’t find anywhere else in the Netherlands. The IJssel River is also nearby, offering a completely different landscape. There are plenty of great restaurants in the area, but staying in a place with a luxurious kitchen in such a unique setting really invites you to enjoy staying right at home!
