Outside the village of Ruinen, on the edge of the Anserdennen and the National Park "Dwingelderveld", you will find our guesthouse / Bed&Breakfast De Witte Kip (formerly 't Eshuus). Here you can stay in a purely rural environment in a quiet place with beautiful views over the countryside less than 2 km from the village of Ruinen. From September 1, 2026 you are welcome to stay in one of our two cozy rooms Tokkie or Aagje. Room Tokkie is spacious, has a lovely double bed, private bathroom with underfloor heating, cozy sitting and dining area, kitchenette with kettle, coffee maker, refrigerator, oven and electric stove. You can relax on your own terrace with sunny garden. Would you like to start the day with a nice country breakfast? Would you like to rent Kamer Aagje? Take a look at the White Hen Aagje.
Nature and surroundings
With us you will be woken up by singing birds and you might just come face to face with a squirrel, deer, woodpecker, hedgehog or badger. The nature house is located in one of the quietest places in the Netherlands, where you can still see many stars at night. From The White Hen you can walk or cycle into the National Park "Dwingelderveld", which is almost 4000 hectares. It is a varied forest area with moors and many fens. In the nearby visitor center you will find information about the park and the sheepfold. A bicycle path across the heath brings you to the beautiful village of Dwingeloo with its cozy village square. Enjoy a drink on a terrace or visit the nice stores. The nature house is located at walking route node 39 and near cycling node 57. In the vicinity you will also find the national parks the Drents-Friese Wold and the Holtingerveld. Nice Drenthe villages nearby are also Ruinen, Diever, Vledder or Havelte. Also nice is Giethoorn with all its canals.
