At the end of a cul-de-sac, hidden among meadows, lies our completely newly furnished loft. Atmospheric, modern and equipped with all conveniences - everything has been thought of here. Step out of the door and sit right outside, overlooking the greenery, on the water of the Peizerdiep, the peace of the Drenthe and Groningen countryside all around you (across the water is Groningen). The entire garden and orchard are yours too. Fish from the bank, pick fruit, read a book in the grass or just do nothing. In the yard live two cheerful labradoodles and the faithful Beppie, five cats on their own terms and a bunch of chickens that provide the necessary activity every morning. Animals, nature and space - it's all here as a matter of course. Do you still want to go into town? The bustling center of Groningen is just a 15-minute drive away. A terrace, a restaurant, stores or culture - it's all possible. And in the evening you return to the silence of Matsloot.
Nature and surroundings
This cottage is located in the small hamlet of Matsloot, on the edge of De Onlanden - one of the most beautiful wetlands of the Northern Netherlands. This vast marshland landscape is a paradise for birds: the cattle egret, spoonbill, bittern, kingfisher and great egret are permanent residents. Walk directly from the house on quiet dike paths and through open polders, or take the bike and explore the road network of Drenthe and the villages of Groningen. Around the house, bees buzz above the blossoms of the orchard, chickens scratch in the grass and deer sometimes look straight at you from the meadow. Nature is not a backdrop here - it is simply present, tangible and close, and yet the vibrant city of Groningen is barely fifteen minutes away. Terrace on the Grote Markt, a concert, a museum - it's all possible, and in the evening you return to the breathtaking silence of Matsloot.
