This cottage was originally built in 1962 as a vacation home by one of the owners of Vilsteren Estate. This is the part that will be rented out. In 1969 a more modern house was built against it, where we ourselves occasionally stay. In May 2026 the renovation will be complete and the vacation home will have a new kitchen and bathroom, HR++ glass all around, and a new floor in the living room. The walls, floor and roof will also be insulated. The original appearance of this vacation home will be preserved. We will put new pictures on the website when the renovation is complete. During your stay with complete privacy, the children can build cabins in their own garden, use the trampoline, explore the forest paths, or look for the dragonflies and frogs around the pond. On the large south-facing terrace, the BBQ awaits and the outdoor fireplace can be used. From the private garden of more than an acre you can walk straight into the vast forests.
Nature and surroundings
Vilsteren Estate is an oasis of tranquility in the middle of the Vecht valley. The centuries-old estate consists of vast forests, heaths, stately avenues and open meadows where deer and birds regularly show themselves. The Vecht River meanders along the area, providing beautiful views and varied landscapes. Walking and cycling paths take you through quiet forests and past historic farms, wooded banks and dirt roads. Nature here is pure, quiet and small-scale, with a different light and atmosphere every day. An ideal place to really come to yourself and enjoy all that nature has to offer. A lovely natural swimming lake is 700 m away. Every month there is a cozy farmer's market in Vilsteren, where delicious local products are available. The towns of Ommen and Dalfsen are within cycling distance and the beautiful Hanseatic city of Zwolle is 20 minutes away by car.
