This nature house sleeps 4 people. It is equipped with two made-up bunk beds, electricity, a private seating area, a toilet, a water faucet, and a charging station for electric bikes. The cabin resembles a traditional Twente field barn. Through the large windows, you can watch the sun rise in the morning. This nature house—along with the hikers’ cabins ’t Bakhoes and ’t Hoonderhok—is part of our small nature campground, Heanige Huuskes Hezingen: specially designed for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers. Almost everything was built by hand, using mainly wood and secondhand materials. De Grote Schup serves as the central gathering spot here, featuring not only a kitchen but also showers, a laundry room, restrooms, a washing machine, and electrical outlets and charging stations. And for those who enjoy it: there’s also an outdoor shower! Coffee and tea are available for free, and for a donation of your choice, you can have breakfast and put together your own packed lunch.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located on the edge of the Het Springendal nature reserve, near Ootmarsum and Vasse. The surrounding area features forests, heathland, and ash trees, and the “Ootmarsum moraine” creates a graceful undulation in the landscape. The German border is just a few hundred meters away. There are many sandy trails here, making you feel truly immersed in nature. Junction 93 of the cycling route network and junction D97 of the hiking network are right on our doorstep. And the long-distance hiking trails—the Hilligenpad, the Twentepad, and the Noaberpad—run right past us. At night, it’s usually really dark and quiet here. And in the morning, you’re awakened by the sounds of nature. Guests have told us how much they enjoyed the patter of rain on the roof and waking up to the drumming of a woodpecker.

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
- Out of respect for nature: silence between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
- Minimum age of main booker: 18 years.
- Smoking is not allowed in this nature house.
- No fireworks are allowed at this Nature House.
- No parties or events are allowed.
- This nature house is not suitable for groups of young people, students and sports teams.
