The nature house is a beautiful white villa and in use as Bed & Breakfast and as a vacation home for groups of max 8/9pers plus weddings and events id park-like garden.We have three luxury and one comfortable 2pers rooms. All have a private bathroom and coffee and tea facilities in the room. Furthermore, there is a general spacious living room, garden room & spacious garden where you are welcome. The spacious layout of the house and the surrounding nature makes this nature house a perfect place for quality time with partner and family or friends. The house is not suitable for young children and parties where we are not your hosts.The monumental building was built in 1859 as a residence for the head director of the prisons in Veenhuizen and was soon called Klein Soestdijk because of its similarity to Soestdijk. We have been living there since 2023 and take great pleasure in welcoming our guests. We also lovingly provide a regal breakfast (to be ordered extra).
Nature and surroundings
Veenhuizen is located in the middle of Drenthe nature, on the border with Friesland. From the nature house you walk within 3 minutes in the forest and you cross through the forest so to the Fochteloërveen, a beautiful nature reserve with many special birds and dragonflies and the like. The Drents Friese Wold and other beautiful nature reserves are also just around the corner. Veenhuizen also has a special history. It was founded 200 years ago as the Colony of Weldadigheid and after about 35 years was taken over by the Interior and later the Justice Department, which hermetically sealed it off until 1983. In the vicinity are a number of good restaurants, Assen is 15 minutes away and Groningen center is just over half an hour away.
