Nature house in Middelaar

We stayed in a cottage with a hot tub on the riverside. As far as we know, there are two cottages with hot tubs, both on the outer side of the dock. Because of that, we expected some peace and privacy, but we were disappointed.

Both in the afternoon and in the evening, there were regularly fishermen on the dock or along the shore, right near our cottage. They cast their fishing rods right next to our hot tub. I even had to remove a fishhook from the hot tub’s steps. That’s not only annoying but also somewhat dangerous.

Especially with a cottage that has a hot tub, you’d expect a bit more privacy. It would be nice if the park established clear rules about fishing in the immediate vicinity of the cottages.

On a positive note: upon arrival, we had a delicious meal at the neighboring harbor restaurant. I don’t think this is part of the rental package, but the food was good and the staff was friendly.

Wij verbleven in een huisje met hottub aan de oeverzijde. Voor zover wij weten zijn er twee huisjes met hottub, beide aan de buitenzijde van de steiger. Daardoor verwachtten we enige rust en privacy, maar dat viel tegen.

Zowel 's middags als 's avonds stonden er geregeld vissers op de steiger of aan de oever, vlak bij ons huisje. Ze wierpen hun hengels uit in de directe omgeving van onze hottub. Ik heb zelfs een vishaakje uit het trappetje van de hottub moeten verwijderen. Dat is niet alleen vervelend, maar ook enigszins gevaarlijk.

Juist bij een huisje met hottub verwacht je wat meer privacy. Het zou fijn zijn als het park duidelijke afspraken maakt over vissen in de directe omgeving van de huisjes.

Een positieve noot: we hebben bij aankomst heerlijk gegeten in het naastgelegen havenrestaurant. Volgens mij hoort dit niet bij de verhuur, maar het eten was goed en het personeel vriendelijk.

The cottage itself was fine; there wasn’t much to complain about. Check-in and check-out are completely contactless, with no reception desk or in-person key handoff.

What we found disappointing was that the parking lot is about 650 meters from the cottages. Wheelbarrows are available for luggage, but strangely enough, they’re located right by the cottages themselves.

So you first have to walk 650 meters to pick up a wheelbarrow, then 650 meters back to the car, and then another 650 meters with your luggage to the cottage. That’s almost two kilometers of walking before you’re even settled in!

The distance between the parking lot and the cottages is probably difficult to change, but why aren’t the wheelbarrows also located near the turnstiles? Perhaps behind a gate with a combination lock. That would save guests a long walk.

For us, this was a disappointment, especially since we also had to carry our belongings through the rain upon arrival.

Het huisje zelf was prima, daar was weinig op aan te merken. Het in- en uitchecken verloopt volledig contactloos, zonder receptie of persoonlijke sleuteloverdracht.

Wat wij jammer vonden, is dat de parkeerplaats zo'n 650 meter van de huisjes ligt. Voor bagage zijn kruiwagens beschikbaar, maar vreemd genoeg staan die bij de huisjes zelf.

Je loopt daardoor eerst 650 meter om een kruiwagen op te halen, vervolgens 650 meter terug naar de auto en daarna weer 650 meter met je bagage naar het huisje. Bijna twee kilometer lopen voordat je geïnstalleerd bent!

De afstand tussen de parkeerplaats en de huisjes is waarschijnlijk lastig te veranderen, maar waarom staan de kruiwagens niet tevens bij de slagbomen? Eventueel achter een hek met cijferslot. Dat zou gasten een flinke wandeling besparen.

Voor ons was dit een tegenvaller, zeker omdat we bij aankomst ook nog eens met onze spullen door de regen moesten.

Our cottage was great. We stayed in the "Fuut" with a hot tub.

Ons huisje was top. Wij hadden de Fuut met hot-tub.

We had a great time. We went sailing, took a fun tour on an e-chopper, and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub.

Geweldige tijd gehad. Heerlijk gevaren, leuke tour gemaakt met een e-chopper en lekker in de hot-tub gezeten.
