It is an attractive and sustainable nature house in Den Nul, between Olst and Wijhe. The lodge, lovingly converted from a former pig barn, lies on the edge of nature reserve the Duursche Waarden. From the French doors you have an unobstructed view over the meadows, where you can hear birds singing in the morning and, with any luck, see deer. Inside it is warm and cozy with a wood stove as the only heating, good insulation and a ceiling fan for summer days. There is no breakfast service, but an equipped kitchen with everything you need. The fenced garden offers privacy and quiet, while our own dogs sometimes come to say hello in a friendly way. The lodge is within walking distance of the river IJssel, ideal for walkers and cyclists. On weekends the lodge is usually closed because the hosts like to do odd jobs, but by mutual agreement, staying is often possible.
Nature and surroundings
The lodge is located in Den Nul, a quiet village between Olst and Wijhe, in the middle of the beautiful IJssel landscape. From the lodge you can walk straight into nature: towards the floodplains or the nature reserve the Duursche Waarden, where you can encounter storks, konik horses and cattle. Along the IJssel you will find extensive cycle paths with beautiful views and pleasant ferries to take you across. Nearby are charming villages, mills, farms and nice places to eat. The Hanseatic cities of Deventer and Zwolle are also a short distance away for those who want to combine culture, shopping or outdoor cafes with rest and nature. Here you experience the best of both worlds: silence and space, yet everything close by.
