From the cottage you walk or cycle straight into the vast heathland, with its fens, forest edges and silence you will find nowhere else. The cottage is cozy and tastefully decorated with natural materials. Inside you will find a bright living room overlooking the greenery, a fully equipped kitchen, a nice dining area and a comfortable double bed. On the terrace you can enjoy the peace and quiet, birds singing and the sun setting over the heathland. At night, all you hear is the rustling of the wind through the trees - and maybe an owl in the distance. Within walking distance you will even find the impressive radio telescope of Dwingeloo, a special landmark in the middle of the landscape. From there you can continue your journey across the heathland, through quiet forests and past small fens, where you might just encounter a flock of sheep along the way. Moreover, Dwingeloo lies between two national parks: the Dwingelderveld and the Drents-Friese Wold. Romy December 22, 2025 General rating:Super cottage and surroundings, especially if you come with a dog. Didn't hear any fireworks around Christmas either. Within walking distance a fine dog-friendly restaurant and plenty of forest!
Super huisje en omgeving, zeker als je met een hond komt. Ook geen vuurwerk gehoord rondom kerst. Op loopafstand een fijn hondvriendelijk restaurant en genoeg bos!
Nature, peace & environment:The cottage was super nicely decorated. Really felt like coming home after a long walk. We were there around Christmas and there were also nice Christmas lights for extra cozy atmosphere. The air conditioning heated the cottage just fine in the freezing cold. The kitchen also had everything you need to cook in terms of pans/cutlery. The shower was very nice. All super - and especially the location. Only tip I can give is maybe bring earplugs because there was a rooster in the neighborhood that would regularly sing at night. But then again that was super fun. There are also donkeys, sheep and chickens super close by. We often went to the bospub with the dog, very nice restaurant. And nearby (30min drive) I can recommend the Gasseltermeer and the Wolvenspoor as hiking trails. The stars are super good to see from the cottage (and your bed!). Lots of birds around your cottage. And of course the Dwingelderveld. Perfect location for a nature lover.
Het huisje was super mooi ingericht. Voelde echt als thuiskomen na een lange wandeling. Wij waren er rond kerst en er waren ook leuke kerstlampjes voor extra gezellige sfeer.
De airco verwarmde het huisje prima in de vrieskou. De keuken had ook alles wat je nodig hebt om te koken qua pannen/bestek. De douche was heel fijn. Allemaal super!!
En vooral de locatie. Enige tip die ik kan geven is misschien oordopjes meenemen want er was een haan in de buurt die regelmatig 's nachts ging zingen. Maar dat was ook wel weer super leuk. Er zijn ook ezels, schapen en kippen super dichtbij.
We zijn vaak naar de bospub gegaan met de hond, heel leuk restaurant. En in de buurt (30min rijden) kan ik het Gasseltermeer en het Wolvenspoor aanraden als wandelroutes.
De sterren zijn super goed te zien vanaf het huisje (en je bed!). Heel veel vogeltjes rondom je huisje. En natuurlijk het Dwingelderveld. Perfecte locatie voor een natuur liefhebber.This text is automatically translated. -
