On an estate, in a barn, you will find a place where nature, craft and creativity come together. In the summer, the wood workshop turns into a special place to stay: the Woolhalla, a Tiny house clad in sheep's wool. Soft, breathable and natural - unless you're allergic to wool. Everything in the space is moveable: from the bathtub to the sofa to the sauna. So you create your own atmosphere. Cook inside or outside, over a campfire with kettle or grill. Enjoy a hot bath, the infrared sauna or a fresh dip in the outdoor bathtub. This place is pure and free, for people who love simplicity, being outdoors, morning espresso on the garden bench in the sun and evening gazing into the fire. We are open from April to September - it remains a workshop, so a bit robust it is. In addition to the private bath there is a toilet and shower shared with other guests. ps Not suitable for people who like a sterile hotel room!
Nature and surroundings
The estate is part of National Park De Maasduinen, a unique nature reserve stretching from Gennep to Venlo. The park is known for its varied landscape of dunes, forests and fens, and offers beautiful cycling routes along the Meuse River. Across the river is the UNESCO mowed hedgerow area, a rare cultural landscape. Also, the famous Pieterpad runs through Afferden from Gennep to Vierlingsbeek. Directly from the Wolhalla several hiking and cycling routes start through the nature-rich area and the surrounding cultural landscape. Fancy some urban entertainment? Both Nijmegen and Venlo are just a 30-minute drive away. Nature starts at the back door of the Wolhalla. In our edible garden you can pick fresh herbs for cooking, brewing a delicious herbal tea or as flower bath herbs. You are free to pick and enjoy these.
