The casa is a more than 300-year-old house, has been recently renovated. We transformed the cottage for the animals into a guest house. It has its own patio with dining table and chairs, entrance, hall, bathroom and a separate toilet, and a room with two luxurious-robust bunk beds. You can stay there alone or with a group or family of up to four people. There is no kitchen.There is a little garden, and you are in the middle of nature, with two mountains within a thick hour's walking distance, and many marked hiking trails. Take an immediate morning walk towards Fatima or the other way out of Santiago de Compostela, or sit outside in the shade of a grape branch with a beautiful view. Be welcome to harvest fruit from our orchard when the time is right. Organic vegetables from our permaculture garden may also be harvested! Ribeira de Alcalamouque, our little village has two neighboring villages within 3-5 km with restaurants and mini supermarket. The larger villages are Penela, Ansiao and Condeixa with a swimming pool.
Nature and surroundings
In our casinha in the middle of nature you will sleep fast! No traffic noise, just the silence of nature. Marked PR and GR trails, and in a fat hour you climb the twin mountains. So there are two mountains you can hike or for the active runner: climb running. There are many 3-4 Unesco highlights to visit within an hour's drive: Coimbra, Tomar, Alcobaca and Batalha. If you visit the last two, you can drive straight to the beach. Riding the towering waves of Nazare or the quiet bay of Sao Martinho de Porto where you can swim. Figueiro da Foz beach can be reached in 50 minutes. You also have many flowing rivers 'praia fluvial' where the Portugese like to cool off, Loucainha high in the mountains in Penela is a nice one with a nice restaurant. With all these activities you can certainly enjoy yourself for a week. From Porto and Lisbon it is a 1.5-2 hour drive to Casa da Lima. It is near Coimbra, the old university town.
