Our nature house (in 2025 completely restyled) is located on the edge of the Dwingelderveld, a Natura 2000 area with panoramic views, a clear starry sky and only bird sounds to wake you up with. You walk straight into nature, without encountering a car. The accommodation consists of two attached cottages with six bedrooms, three bathrooms, two kitchens and living rooms. Ideal for a group of 10 to 12 people who want to be together, but also want to be able to retreat. Outside, there is a terrace, outdoor kitchen and hot tub overlooking the pastures and horses. The atmosphere is warm, artful and comfortable, with attention to detail and sustainability. The hot tub is filled with fresh water for each group; the beds are freshly made with beautiful hotel linen. We welcome you at Buitenplaats Het Bonte Paard.
Nature and surroundings
The buitenplaats is located on the edge of the Dwingelderveld, the largest wet moorland in Western Europe. No highways or city noise here, but silence, stars and the call of a curlew. From the farmyard you walk or cycle straight into nature: rolling moors, sandy paths, forests and fens alternate. In every season the area breathes something different - vast and shimmering in summer, mysterious and still in winter. In the immediate vicinity you will find sheep herds, megalithic tombs, charming villages such as Dwingeloo and Ruinen, and an observatory for those who want to explore the night. Here you automatically live a little slower, closer to nature and far from everything that has to be done. Ideal for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists and anyone who wants to clear their head.
