Our house is located in Överberga. Överberga is a hamlet near the Rådasjön, a few kilometers below Ekshärad in the province of Varmland. Överberga is about 100 km above Karlstad. Our house in Överberga dates from the early 1900s and is a traditional carpenter's house, a house built in the original way from stacked beams. Of course the house is completely adapted to the demands of our time, but without losing its warm atmosphere. The house is equipped for 4/5 persons. Located on a very large plot (27,000 m²) with a view over the Klarälven, the largest river in Sweden, it is the perfect place to completely unwind. For those who like an active vacation there are plenty of possibilities: hiking, canoeing, cycling,fishing, swimming etc.
Nature and surroundings
Värmland has numerous lakes, many nature reserves, ski slopes, hiking trails, museums, mountains and streams. In nature you will find animals that you will not easily find in the Netherlands, such as the bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine. Värmland has stable weather and the most hours of sunshine in Sweden. It has a so-called continental climate, which means really cold winters with lots of snow and hot dry summers. The number of sunshine hours is far above that of the Netherlands. The summer temperature is between 20 and 32 degrees. Around our vacation home are vast forests where you can hike or mountain bike endlessly, without encountering a human being. Here you can enjoy unspoiled nature, peace and quiet and space. The forests are rich in wildlife. With a little luck you will see moose or beavers. Furthermore, you can see deer especially around dusk. In the summer you can pick plenty of berries here.
