In our former farmhouse, you’ll stay in one of the three two-person apartments in the old barn. This used to be the barn where the cows were kept. In the apartments, you can still see authentic details from the former barn, such as the old support beams and the rings where the cows were tethered. Two of these apartments received new kitchens in the spring of 2025, and renovations were made to the bathrooms, including a new bathroom cabinet and shower door. One apartment received a new bathroom in 2023. We strive to be sustainable in our furnishings by purchasing many interior items and decorations from thrift stores and online marketplaces. The exception to this is our beds, which are of good quality and were purchased new. We believe a good night’s sleep is very important. The farmhouse is in a quiet location, but the A12 is only a 10-minute drive away, making it an excellent base for day trips to nature reserves, the beach, cities, and more.
Nature and surroundings
The Reeuwijks Plassen are located near us and are perfect for recreation when the weather is nice. But you can also enjoy beautiful walks and bike rides among the lakes, which offer an oasis of tranquility. There are countless bike routes in the Green Heart. In Boskoop, the tourist office offers boat tours. On these tours, you’ll cruise through the Boskoop canals and get to know the fields of our Boskoop growers. The Lansing is located between Boskoop and Reeuwijk. This is a beautifully preserved nature reserve. It’s also wonderful to take a lovely evening walk around our Middelburg Polder after dinner. This polder is home to many different species of birds, including the black-tailed godwit, which, fortunately, has been returning to our polder year after year in recent years and is even increasing in number. The section of polder behind ours is even a protected bird sanctuary. The municipality, the province, and our farmers are working together to preserve this area for protected bird species.

The cottage itself was fine, and the hosts were friendly, but in our opinion, this cottage doesn't fit the "nature house" category. That's because migrant workers made it hard to relax, and the view was of a barn wall. Too bad.
Huisje was op zich goed en vriendelijke gastvrouw en gastheer maar volgens ons valt dit huisje niet onder kopje natuurhuisje. Want door arbeidsmigranten was er geen rust en keken uit op de muur van schuur. Jammer.
