Our vacation home, where you can truly unwind. A charming, detached cottage for four people, completely surrounded by greenery! Located on a small campground in Nutter, just 2 km from the art town of Ootmarsum. You can’t go wrong with this cottage. Everything you need is here: a well-equipped new open kitchen, a very cozy living area, two bedrooms, and an extra room with an infrared sauna. There’s also space here for a crib (provided). The bathroom area is neat and innovatively designed. The terrace is a wonderful place to relax, with four comfortable garden chairs and a picnic table. In the morning—and throughout the day—you can enjoy the chorus of birdsong. There is an indoor storage shed and a bike shed with two bikes available, extra garden chairs, and a barbecue. The driveway is more than big enough for one car. Don’t be afraid of silence and darkness :). For good Wi-Fi, head to the “kuierhuusje” or the campground’s café.

The adjacent Springendal is a beautiful nature reserve perfect for hiking and biking. The springs near our cottage are truly unique. The forests, winding paths, and tranquil waters provide a peaceful setting to unwind. You can explore the beautiful surroundings by enjoying a long walk through the green countryside or biking along narrow roads past old farmhouses. If you’re looking for a bit of excitement, Ootmarsum is the perfect place for that. There are plenty of (art) activities, various museums, historic buildings, ancient traditions, and a wealth of galleries. Additionally, towns like Denekamp, Oldenzaal, and even Nordhorn in Germany are all nearby.

Nice little cottage, though a bit damp—but that’s to be expected in the woods. There were also a lot of biting mosquitoes, so a mosquito net in the second bedroom would be nice. I had expected a slightly larger (and fully fenced) yard, so the dog couldn’t run free. Nice kitchen and shower/toilet, and a nice Nespresso machine. No Wi-Fi in the cottage, though there is some on the campground grounds; a Wi-Fi booster would easily solve that. Otherwise, it’s lovely in the woods, close to hiking trails and private, yet still near the other cottages—great! What I find unfortunate is that many dog owners let their dogs run loose on the grounds and in the woods, even though that’s not allowed, and my dog doesn’t like that. But that’s up to the owners (and perhaps the campground owner’s oversight). Otherwise, it’s wonderfully peaceful, with lots of birds and squirrels. I’d definitely like to come back sometime.

Geen wifi in het huisje, wel op het terrein voor bij de camping, maar met wifiversterker zou dat eenvoudig op te lossen te zijn. Verder lekker in het bos, vlakbij wandelroutes en privacy maar toch dicht bij de andere huisjes, fijn! Wat ik jammer vind is dat veel hondeneigenaren de hond op het terrein en in de bossen, los hebben lopen terwijl dat niet mag en mijn hond vindt dat niet fijn. Maar dat ligt aan de baasjes (en controle camping-eigenaar misschien). Het is heerlijk rustig verder, veel vogels en eekhoorns. Ik zou zeker nog wel eens terug willen.
