In the front house of our residential farmhouse in the small, beautifully located nature house is an independent apartment for guests. The apartment has its own entrance, bedroom with double bed, bathroom with toilet and shower and living room. On the side is a small terrace where you can have breakfast or read a book. In the living room there is also a fridge, coffee, tea, crockery and warming facilities. The house is located in the middle of the small village of Balloo, surrounded by greenery and detached farms. Here you can hear the birds, see the storks flying over and the horses walking by. Regularly in the morning we have fresh eggs from our chickens.
Nature and surroundings
Balloo is a small esdorp with only 160 inhabitants, located in the middle of the national park Drentse Aa and the UNESCO global geopark De Hondsrug. The Balloërveld and Kampsheide fields surround the village. You can therefore enjoy beautiful hiking and cycling in the area. Just steps away in the village is an organic farm store, and the neighboring village of Rolde (5 min cycling) is a lively village with supermarkets, butcher, baker, drugstore and various restaurants. The Pieterpad and Sint Jacobspad walk a few hundred meters from the apartment. Assen is less than 10 minutes away and the intercity train station can be reached in 15 min by bike/7 min by car. The city of Groningen is about 30 min by car. At 1 km from our guesthouse is a bus stop with connection to Assen station.
