Our cottage is located just outside Borger in a wooded, very rural setting on the Hondsrug. You look out over the farmlands and get the setting sun as a gift! The vacation home is on one level and has its own entrance. There is a cozy living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The house has a spacious bedroom with a double box spring and a second bedroom with a single bed. The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. The washing machine is also located in the shower room. The house has a private garden to relax and enjoy the view and tranquility. In the yard walk our two labradors and in the country our Friesian horses. In our area it is great to go for an outdoor ride on your own horse. It is also possible to bring your horse. For this you can use a stable, an outdoor riding arena with lighting for the evening and a paddock. Please contact us for more information about this!
Nature and surroundings
The village of Borger, the Hunebed capital, is located on the N34 or Hunebed highway. There are several stores and restaurants in the village and a lively summer market is held on Fridays. The surrounding nature, such as National Geopark the Hondsrug attracts cyclists and hikers. The area has miles of hiking and biking trails. Also the Pieterpad and Drenthepad run right past our vacation home. Fun trips include the Hunebedmuseum, Wildlands, Ellert and Brammert, the sheep herd in Exloo, watchtower Poolshoogte and the Boomkroonpad. In the surrounding forests there are beautiful natural lakes such as the Loomeer and the Iberenplas near Schoonloo and the blue hole near Gasselte. The town of Emmen is 20 km (Wildlands) away and the cities of Groningen 45 km (Gronings Museum) and Assen 20 km (Drents Museum) are also easy to reach both by car and public transport.
