Our lovely cottage is a cozy, thatched restored farmhouse from 1700, using as much as possible the building materials used in 1700. Of course the house is equipped with modern conveniences such as wifi, hot water (by means of a 30 l boiler), heating, etc. Note that the headroom in the house is about 1.90 mtr and that is up to the ceiling, under the beams and in the doorways the height is slightly lower. The decor is simple but cozy and functional. There is a new wood stove to make the cooler evenings pleasant. There is no TV; the master bedroom has a 160X200 and an 80x200 bed. In the small bedroom there is a 120X200 bed. In the attic there are two mattresses that can also be used if necessary. The fully equipped kitchen opens onto the deep garden, with terraces and fireplace, from where you can walk into the forest where you can follow one of the 4 marked walks. There is parking in front of the house.
Nature and surroundings
Ydby is close to the national park Thy. Here dunes and forests alternate with heathland. The North Sea coast in Thy cannot be compared to the Dutch. It is rougher here and the dunes are steeper. There are many walks to follow in the national park and the chances of spotting a roe deer, fox or krondyr are very high. In the spring there are the cranes breeding and at Agger tange you can spot spoonbills, black-tailed godwits and many more species of birds. Also, seals and dolphins are often seen there. Thy coast is also referred to as Cold Hawaii because of its good surfing conditions (wind, board, kite surfing). On the other side is the Limfjord with the island Mors where you can look for fossils and hike (a.o.) at Hanklit. Near Ydby, in Hurup you can visit the wooden troll Ask in Ashøj. In Doverodde is the SMK THY (art museum) and the area there is also very suitable for children.
