Our nature house in central Portugal is a handmade, 180 m² passive home built from wood and strawbales, nestled in the heart of certified organic farmland. Surrounded by olive trees, a vineyard, a veggie garden and an orchard, it offers a peaceful, off-grid escape. The house stays cool in hot summers! It offers access to a shared kitchen, cozy lounge with wood stove, and a bathroom with compost toilets. You’ll hear birds, sheep, and the murmur of the nearby river. If desired, you can join us for daily farm life: milking our goat and sheep, gardening, harvesting veggies, making cheese or herbal remedies. We offer, as extras, delicious organic vegetarian meals and wellness sessions (shiatsu, herbalism. Reiki, naturopathy). Built with love and care for the Earth, this is a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy simple living. NB : no wifi at home, perfect occasion for a digital detox!
Nature and surroundings
Our holiday home is located in the rural hills of central Portugal, near the small medieval city of Trancoso (15 km) and 10 mn walk from the Roman village of Cogula. Beautiful nature surrounds you: wild trails, olive groves, a singing river, and clear night skies with millions of stars. We are 35 km from the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, Portugal’s highest mountain range, ideal for hiking, swims in river beaches, and nature discovery. The UNESCO site of Foz Côa, natural hot springs and several cute medieval villages are around, within 30–50 km. In summer, the region buzzes with village festivals and music events. If needed, free public Wi-Fi is 10 min away on foot, or bring your mobile data (cheap SIM cards available everywhere). Easy access by bus/train (15 km) and taxi. Our nature house in Guarda region is perfect for a restful eco-retreat, surrounded by Portuguese countryside charm.
