Welcome to our rustic cottage, your home on vacation in the mountains. Built on a century-old granite farmhouse in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, central Portugal. Inside you will find natural materials, a cozy wood stove and views of the rock face behind the bed. Outside, a sunny terrace with panoramic views, silence and mountains awaits. Perfect for nature lovers, hikers and dreamers. You are surrounded by hiking trails, herbs, stars and silence and only a 5-minute drive away from several small villages and several river beaches where you can swim. Here you live to the rhythm of the mountains. (1 dog possibly allowed, but only by agreement! There are cats and a dog living on the farm).
Nature and surroundings
The cottage and farm is located in the middle of the protected natural park Serra da Estrela, above the village of Famalicão da Serra. From the grounds you have an unobstructed view of a huge part of the park as well as Torre, the highest point in Portugal. Walk directly into the mountains, discover deserted paths, rivers and wild flowers. In spring everything turns green and you can smell the wild mint. In autumn chestnut trees hang full and in summer it is perfect for a dip in the various rivers in the area and in the evening cool off atop the mountain. This is the pure nature of Portugal, away from mass and hurry, a place to catch your breath.

The house has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very helpful host and friendly pets!
Very cozy house, quiet place, great views. For hiking in between nature paths, we needed to drive 30min.

Really special place with a wonderful host. Pippin made us feel so welcome and was always on hand to help us with any questions/ requests/ lovely surprises. We were there in winter and the fireplace kept the upstairs nice and hot, although the downstairs sleeping area did get a little chilly so I'd recommend bringing warm pyjamas to sleep. All the facilities were very modern and efficient - the perfect blend of rustic and new.
This was such a beautiful home that was clearly built with such great care. The views were incredible, the fireplace was cosy and Pippin was the most generous and friendly host (along with his gorgeous dog Maui). There are lovely walks that you can do direct from the cottage, and plenty of villages, restaurants and swimming spots super nearby. Would definitely recommend!

There are many nice spots to enjoy the view. The inconspicuous green pool with cold spring water provided much needed cooling. Delicious!!!
Er zijn veel lekkere plekjes om te genieten van het uitzicht. Het onopvallende groene zwembad met koud bronwater zorgde voor de nodige verkoeling. Heerlijk!!
Lovely place on the mountain with beautiful views. The house felt nice, it fit us like a coat, which by the way we didn't need. There is a good kitchen, nice chairs, great bed. Moreover, the host was diligent in a sympathetic way to make us feel comfortable.
