Nature and surroundings
Welcome to the Elbmarschen. Here you will find many historic thatched-roof houses, dykes, lots of sheep, apple orchards and of course the Elbe and the Krückau. Right next to the house is the world's smallest ferry, Kronsnest. Here you can cycle across the Krückau to Neuendorf during the season. Hand-operated. :) Many small farm stores provide you with the most important groceries: fresh eggs, apples from the many apple growers of the Elbmarschen, seasonal vegetables, pure apple juices and the tastiest potatoes in Germany. Breakfast is served in the Café Alte Viehwaage, fish sandwiches in the beer garden in the neighboring village. A beach can be reached by bike in 20 minutes and Hamburg-Altona is about 30 minutes away by car. The North Sea with St. Peter-Ording and Büsum is also 1-1.5 hours away by car. Due to the many thatched-roof houses, fireworks are generally prohibited in the village on New Year's Eve.
