This authentic, detached vacation home is situated on a mound along the Meuse River and offers a stunning view of the river, the surrounding nature, and the castle ruins from every room. Located on the Geijsteren Estate, the house offers peace and space. Enjoy the natural surroundings with hiking and biking trails, including the famous Pieterpad, and discover the most beautiful golf course in North Limburg. Note: The Meuse River is navigated by ships and, especially in good weather, speedboats. On the ground floor, you’ll find an entryway, a restroom, and a spacious kitchen-diner with a dining table, a 5-burner gas stove, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a pod coffee maker. The cozy, old-fashioned living room features a second dining table and a fireplace with free firewood. The living room opens onto the terrace, which has a fire pit, a BBQ, and spectacular views. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and a small bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet, and underfloor heating. The 2 large bedrooms each have a sink. The beds are fairly new and comfortable, and there are reading lamps as well.
Nature and surroundings
The estate features, among other things, 300 hectares of forest with beautiful streams, a forest chapel, and the Rosmolen, where grain is ground every Friday. Nearby are the Boshuizerbergen, home to a unique juniper berry forest. Across the Meuse River lies the Maasduinen National Park. There’s plenty to do in the area: the zoo and war museum in Overloon, the castle gardens in Arcen, or the thermal baths. Also worth visiting: Toverland in Sevenum and several museums, such as Van Bommel van Dam in Venlo (modern art) or the Limburgs Museum. Nearby, you can enjoy a good meal at Eethoeve De Boogaard, the restaurant at the golf course, or have a drink at the village café 't Trefpunt. You can also easily cross the border to, for example, the charming center of Kevelaer, Germany, for “gutbürgerliche Küche.” For local products, visit the nearby farms. The closest bakery and supermarket are in Wanssum, and Venray is just 8.5 km away for more shops and amenities. The Roermond Outlet is 50 km away.

A great place to stay with a fully equipped kitchen.
What a fantastic place to stay, especially if you want to completely unwind!
We enjoyed the beautiful nature, the sheep, and the view of the Maas River.
We received a warm welcome with flowers and a bottle of wine on the table, and we also had pleasant interactions with the owner during our stay.
It’s also a great spot for fishing enthusiasts! Just be mindful of the current and the many rocks on the riverbed. There are plenty of gobies, though.
This text is automatically translated. -

We couldn't just walk down to the edge of the ditch, because we would have run into an electric fence—sheep were being kept in the pasture surrounding the cottage. At one point, a sheep had escaped from the pasture and wandered around our house for days.
What surprised us was the amount of noise from boat traffic on the Meuse. I’m not talking about the inland waterway vessels, but the large number of speedboats and jet skis that kept going all day until 10:00 p.m. It was incredibly annoying and anything but peaceful, which probably also had to do with the high dikes on the other side of the Meuse, which created a massive echo chamber for the sounds of the boats and jet skis.

The only criticism is: when you’re sitting on the patio, it would be nice to see the boats sailing by. But there are trees there with too many branches blocking the view. Removing a few branches would make that possible.
A finished path leading to the dock would have been nice, too. As it was, there were so many sheep in the pasture that we couldn’t get to the dock.
We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful natural surroundings!
No other people or cars can pass by because the cottage is completely secluded in nature, right next to the Meuse River. The only things we saw passing by were boats. That was lovely to see!
We were able to completely unwind there! A truly beautiful location.
We went on two wonderful bike rides in the area and went for a walk in the beautiful De Maasduinen nature reserve. I had an unforgettable stay in Geijsteren with my parents (who are in their eighties!), my daughter and her boyfriend, and our little dog!
