We are proud to offer this nature house to our guests for overnight stays. We have carefully renovated this old barn into a comfortable vacation home. Windows span the full width of the east side of the Koetshuis, offering a stunning view of the sunrise and the beautiful Drenthe farmland. On the ground floor, in addition to the living area, you’ll find a dining area, a kitchen, a shower, and a separate toilet. The sleeping area is located on the spacious mezzanine, which features two single beds. The nature house also features a southwest-facing terrace for your use. We do not serve breakfast at the nature house.
Nature and surroundings
This nature house is located between Old and New Veenhuizen. The road past the Coach House leads you to the prison museum, which is well worth a visit. Be sure not to miss a ride on the prison convict bus. In the village, you’ll find a cozy restaurant, a tea garden, a brewery, a fry shop, a gift shop, a cheese factory, and the Gardens of Charity. The area around Veenhuizen offers extensive hiking trails and bike routes. Various hiking and biking guides are available. You can start your hike or bike ride right from the Koetshuis. The Fochtelooerveen nature reserve is a 5-minute bike ride from Veenhuizen. In Veenhuizen, the Tourist Information Center is located in the old slaughterhouse.

Pleasant personal atmosphere. No "standard furnishing-magazine interior" which I really liked. Very clean. Delighted with rural location and forest/heath nearby.
Prettige persoonlijke sfeer. Geen ‘standaard inrichtings-tijdschrift interieur’ wat ik heel fijn vond. Zeer schoon. Dolgelukkig met landelijke ligging en bos/hei in de buurt.
Lovely light. Lots of hiking and biking (with dog) nearby.
