Nature and surroundings
Boswachterij Sleenerzand (1600 ha) is located in the middle of Drenthe and consists of forest and shifting sands. The forest was built around 1930 and has grown into a nature reserve that almost looks foreign. There are dark areas of coniferous forest, lighter areas with deciduous trees, surprising emerging pools and heaths. In the southern and northeastern part of the Sleenerzand dogs are allowed to run free all year round, provided they listen carefully. Parking is available at the parking lot Kibbelveen on the N376 between Sleen and Schoonoord at km-mark 28.1. This area is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the unpaved paths.
